We currently boast three dentists at Friars Walk Dental Clinic in Dunstable, including Slany who is our specialist Oral Surgeon, who carries out all our dental implant work. In addition to the three dentists we have a dental therapist and no less than two dental hygienists. All these professionals are dedicated to making your visit to Friars Walk Dental Clinic as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. All our nurses are qualified and registered with the General Dental Council (GDC)

Meet The Team | Our Dentists

Mr J G McKeon - LDS RCSI Principal Dentist - GDC No. 43291

Mr McKeon qualified at The Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin in 1969.
In addition he has also completed a primary fellowship and was registrar in oral surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London from 1977 to 1978. Mr McKeon is our technology geek, always keeping his eye on what is the latest dental tech that can benefit you the patient.
Being a skilled operator of our Cerec “Crown in a Day” system, he can design and create your crown in one appointment visit.
Mr McKeon has also invested in the latest laser technology which have revolutionises certain treatments and in some cases done away with the drill altogether.

Miss A Qayum - BDS LDS RCS (Eng) Associate Dental Surgeon - GDC No. 70336

Miss Qayum qualified at The Royal College of Surgeons, England and The Royal London Dental School in 1994.
She has been a member of the team here at Friars Walk Dental Clinic since 1996.
Miss Qayum also delivers our facial aesthetics products and services, which include “Restylane” and “Dysport”.

Slany McKeon - BDS (Lond), FDS RCS (Eng) MSc (Lond) Implantology, M.ClinDent (Lond), Prosthodontics, MRD RCS (Eng) Specialist in Oral Surgery, Specialist in Prosthodontics - GDC No. 67588.

Slany McKeon has brought the expertise of Dental Implant Treatment to Friars Walk since 1998 when we placed our first implant on the premises.
Studying at both Kings College of Surgeons and Eastmans Dental Hospital, Slany qualified with a Masters degree in implant in 1996.
She continues her outstanding work providing patients with Dental Implants and replacement of missing teeth.

Meet The Team | Our Hygienists

Karen Archer - RDH 1983, FAETC, Cert Ed(PCE),

Karen is one of our three dental hygienist who continue to work with to maintain and help improve your oral health.
She is vigilant and concise ensuring you are the centre of her focus throughout your visit.
If you have very sensitive teeth then Karen can use a light topical gel that numbs the gums to relieve sensitivity, making treatment more comfortable.

Miss Debbie Wakelin – GDC No.

Debbie is also one of our three dental hygienists that work tirelessly with patients to improve their oral health.
Debbie uses both the Ultra Sonic cleaner and hand Instrument for cleaning which provides up to date brushing techniques thus empowering patients to maintain good dental health.
If you have very sensitive teeth then Debbie can also use a light topical gel that numbs the gums to relieve sensitivity, making treatment more comfortable.

Tracey – Practice Manager GDC No. 132649

Tracey is our longest serving member of the team, and as an experienced Qualified Dental Nurse, has taken on the role of Practice Manager.

Although she is not adverse to working as covering nurse or support to any team member, which she enjoys.

She is currently working to maintain the practice high standards and has achieved BDA Good Practice Award as well and ensuring the practice is CQC Compliant and meets all GDC standards.

If you have any questions in relation to practice policies and procedures, practice management, compliance, GDPR, Infection Control, Emergency Procedures, Health & Safety, Radiation Protection, COSSH, Waste Management etc would be something she will have knowledge of.

Nicola Horgan - Senior Dental Nurse/Manager – GDC No. 132642

Nicola, also known as Nicki by everyone is one of our longest serving employees.
She is a key member who gives support to all areas of the team.
She is also Deputy for any duties relating to Practice Management.

Nicki is also a qualified senior Dental Nurse and her emphatic, caring attitude often means she will go that extra mile to ensure patients have a pleasant journey from beginning to end of their visit.

Sarah Misters - Head Receptionist

Your first contact with Friars Walk either by telephone or person is likely to be with Sarah. Her friendly cheerful approach will make you feel at ease and welcome from the very start.

Sarah has a great memory for names and you will soon be having chats about family etc, especially if you have a pet. As a Dog lover Sarah is always happy to share interesting stories about her bulldog Teddy.

Kelly Muldoon GDC No 262161

Kelly has worked with the practice since 2015, she has also achieved extended duties qualifications in Radiography. She is currently working as Implant Nurse and is enjoying the additional responsibilities this role presents.

We are proud to say that Kelly has completed and passed her examination in NEBDN Dental Implant Nursing which will serve her well in her role as Implant nurse and coordinator to Slany McKeon

Lindsey Hayler GDC No 132647

Lindsey returned to Friars Walk in March 2018 as a Dental nurse after leaving to bring up her children. She is qualified and has 13 years dental nursing experience and currently works alongside Mr McKeon. She is a confident caring person with excellent chairside manner and is proving to be a great asset to the team.

Amy Howells - GDC No 224179

Amy has been working in dental nursing since 2007, and has gained several extended duties qualifications to include Radiography, Oral Health Education and Impression taking.
She has worked in both Private and NHS practices and has had experience in Maxillofacial Department of hospital, Orthodontics and general dentistry.

Our qualified nurses are all registered with the General Dental Council, regularly updating their skills through Continuous Professional Development as a requirement of the General Dental Council

Our reception staff are trained to the highest level of customer service and of course patient care.
